Oh my god, I expected a dark psychological thriller and it gave me that and more. We are following Kimberly, a young woman with epilepsy who works as a senior housekeeper at a hotel who after a lifetime of bad foster homes and dealing with her condition keeps to herself, her only true companion is her seizure alert dog Muffin. A very important hotel guest name Jennifer Clifton arrives at the hotel and after being impressed with her good memory and skill in carrying out tasks, offers her a job at the Clifton Hotel but with the conditions of quitting her current job, signing a NDA and leaving with her immediately. Kimberley does hesitate as she loves her current job, but soon accepts as the idea of leaving her crummy flatshare for a fresh start in Highlands sounds to good. When she arrives she is told that she must not go into room 21, Kimberly tries to stick to the rules but becomes curious about room 21, also she starts to see the Clifton Hotel is not a regular luxury hotel and wonders if she made a mistake taking the job. This was such a great listen and for as dark as it could get, we get Kimberly's POV but we get the also the POVs of Jennifer and a young woman called Emily who is pregnant and gets kidnapped, as you listen to each you learn more and there are some swerves that at didn't expect and the last twist was such a shock to me. I've read Jessica Huntley's work before and this was just so good and kept with the calibre of of her work I've experienced before.

Jennifer is actually Emily having orchestrated a accident that crippled her and has been keeping her in room 21 and also has Damian in a medical induced coma while she carries out her plans for revenge.
Kimberley's longtime doctor Dr Strong has been given her the wrong dose of her epilepsy medication so she has stronger seizures when she actually has a milder form of epilepsy, is also Damian's brother so is her uncle.
The Emily's baby was kidnapped by Courtney and Brian, Courtney not having been a maid long enough and didn't want the child raised in such twisted environment.
Lincoln a guest at the hotel is actually Damian's son, Jennifer and Kimberly's half brother. He has a notebook with names and locations of serial killers in the country.
Kimberly is actually Katie, Brian having knowingly tracked down the wrong girl, so the who we've been following is not actually Emily and Damian's daughter, but still suffered because of Damian being led to believe she was. But in the end Emily gets her daughter, Kimberly/Katie gets a mother and the real Kimberly is living hopefully a good life if she hasn't inherited any of Damian's darkness.
