Additional notes, warning may get spoilery.

The third image shows the Chilkoot Pass which is mentioned by not the route Kate takes , she takes White Pass, also known as the Dead Horse Trail which I've also in the third image. Which started in Skagway or as the author has spelled to match the historical spelling Skaguay which was in Alaska and the White would end in Lake Bennett in the Yukon territory of Canada. The other pictures are of the women who were the inspiration for three main characters. Kate Kelly takes inspiration from Emma Kelly was a reporter from Topeka, Kansas. The daughter of an ex-Kansas Senator, who with help of financiers in getting into the mining business sentence her off to Dawson City with $2,000, like Kate she had a dog but her's was named Klondike instead Yukon also I used a husky to represent Yukon but that might be wrong. Martha was based off of two women who made their fortune by profiting off the miners Belinda Mulrooney and Harriet ‘Ma’ Pullen. Ellen is based off of Ethel Berry and other mining wives during the Klondike Gold Rush. I also want to make mention that Molly the woman whose murder connects the three is based off two women who would die by murder Molly Walsh and Ella Wilson. Molly Walsh who ran a grub tent was killed by her husband, another man who loved her had a statue made in her memory that still stands in Skagway. Ella Wilson was an African American sex worker whose murder is still unsolved, Even the Fortune Teller is based off a real person named Cora Madole. Also Martha's Rival Bill Mathers is based off of Jeff “Soapy” Smith. That is enough on the real life inspirations.

I like the touch of Kate,Martha and Ellen each getting an injury to they hand which alters they life line and means that they life path is now free to be whatever they want. When Yukon got injured by the porcupine, I was distraught for Kate and would have been heartbroken if he died, I'm camp let the dog live even at the expense of humans. The events in the book such as the avalanche, the typhoid and fire are real but with liberties in when they happened. Honestly might just have to re-read this.
