I was pleasantly surprised and shocked by this story, as I read the description and chose to request it as it seemed like it would be a good read but didn't expect to like it as much as I did. It was a bit slow at the start but once it heats up it becomes quite exhilarating, twisted fast paced thriller.

When we start the story Mackenzie is just showing face at the funeral of her mother Elizabeth Caspar aka E.V Renge famous writer of dark psychological thrillers, there is also mystery around her mother's death as police are looking into it. Mackenzie was estranged from her famous mother and isn't really feeling grief like she feels she should for her late mother.

A letter left on her car windscreen from someone calling themselves #1 Fan, the contents of the letter are in her mother's handwriting seemed to be written to Mackenzie from her mom and where she admits to a dark crime, leading her to try and find out if her mom did commit a murder, with the help of her friend she tries to find the truth as more letters show up adding more to the puzzle that was her mother but also make Mackenzie feel connected with her and sad at what was lost.

Won't give much about the ending other than it wraps up the mystery of who Elizabeth Caspar was, how she died and we also find out who was sending the letters and why. This was so good and I can't wait to read more from this author.
