Maeve Fly by C.J Leede eBook/audiobook
Five ⭐
Well I finished my immersion read of this and I have to say think the narration was what helped push me to give this a five stars cause even though I said it was shaping to be five stars in my post they were moments in reading that made me a little bit I guess queasy, but my tolerance in extreme horror has gotten stronger I mean for a long time I swore I wouldn't watch the Saw movies as torture porn horror is not really my jam but Saw X intrigued me and so have since watched the whole series and wasn't as bad. But let's move on to my review.
I heard about this book for a while and even have the author's other book on my wishlist/tbr. Heard some good and okay reviews of this and was sorta on the fence whether I would read it but it was on offer and thought what the hell so got in and brought the audiobook and did it as a immersive read.
It was a little slow at the start just setting up Maeve and her life before it all unravels. Maeve lives with her grandmother who we learn has been in coma for sometime, also Maeve works as the book states an Scandinavian Princess at a place called the park which even though not outright said is Disneyland, she is friend with Kate who plays her character's sister. It seems like her life starts to unravel and got askew when she meets Kate's brother Gideon but also when she finds a weird little doll. When Maeve is not spending her time work or with Kate she finds people online to ruined by catfishing them into admitting things that would ruined them socially. She also read books with misanthropes, depravity and dark material.
This was a good read some moments did make me gasp and to me the ending was bittersweet cause Maeve loses someone who truly saw her but she couldn't see it.
